On a 4-wheel drive road, about two hours from Page, Arizona, is Alstrom Point on the north shore of Lake Powell. The view from this high vantage point is nothing short of spectacular, with an incredible display of Utah (foreground) and Arizona (background). With a vista at roughly 4,650 feet (1417m), Lake Powell lies nearly 1,000 feet (305m) below. The predominant features in this panorama are Gunsight Bay (center), Gunsight Butte (center left), Labyrinth Bay (center distant), Romana Mesa (far right), Tower Butte (distant right), and Navajo Mountain (distant left).
The wind was cold and steady this particular winter evening, making the shooting difficult. Notwithstanding the challenging conditions, I steadied the shot with my trusty tripod and timed shutter release. The detail displays snow covering the various cliff ledges throughout the image.
