Big Elk Creek

First day of summer at Palisades Reservoir. The lake level is very low this year, making this stretch of Big Elk Creek a fascinating place to experience. The water is green and clear, and lured me into the wading waters. The water felt ice cold against my bare feet, and large fish literally swim between my legs.

I setup this shot after my brother placed two canoes in the creek, as the water was just beginning to flow into the lake. The composition could not have been better -- those canoes are really what made this shot for me!
