At the end of another splendid day visiting Moab with family, we found ourselves under clear skies. Shortly before sundown a small cloud layer developed at the horizon. I foresaw the possibility of the sun setting underneath the layer, so I positioned myself in such a way to capture Canyonlands' stark beauty. At the last moment, I found the foreground distracting from the distant scene, so quickly re-positioned myself to a vantage point that showed the light glistening across the vast desert. A comment from a bystander was that it looked like I was chasing the light. That is exactly what I was doing. I captured this single exposure just in time, as the sun was gone in the next frame.
