Grand View Glow
Winter weather had socked in both the Canyonlands and Arches National Parks with thick, rolling fog. In the early hours, while still dark, three of us photographers decided we would try Grand View Overlook, as it was one of the highest (and deepest) vantage points of the area. We were excited to discover we had arrived at a level above the fog; however we were saddened to discover there was a thick overcast layer above. We pressed on in hope the sun would peak through the layers. We were not disappointed. The sun glimmered through a thin layer, only lasting a few seconds, then disappeared. We waited a few more minutes, and the sun began shining incredibly warm all around! I quickly grabbed the D800 and snapped this shot. The glow only lasted a minute or two, and what a glow it was!
