This majestic view of Sukakpak Mountain was captured in the afternoon while driving southbound along Alaska's Dalton Highway. Sukakpak Mountain appears as a single slab of marble and reaches 4,193 feet. The Dalton Highway extends from the Fairbanks area (Elliot Highway) some 414 miles to Deadhorse, which is adjacent to Prudhoe Bay. The road was constructed to support the oil pipeline. Although there is ongoing argument whether oil is to be sought in the North Slope, assuredly most can agree the Dalton Highway permits access to views of nature that otherwise would not be possible!
