Spring is a wonderful time to visit the desert, particularly the sand dunes. Moisture from the passing winter still takes hold within the soil, making the ripples shallow and the shadows less prominent --- the result is a vast array of different textures.
Shooting was almost impossible during this visit to the dunes -- the wind was howling! Regardless, I setup the tripod, removed the lens cap, and captured this shot facing south, away from the setting sun.
