January always greets the Salt Lake Valley with fog and the so-called "inversion." Although the inversion had mostly lifted by this time in the morning, a thick fog bank clouded the shores of the Great Salt Lake. Weather predictions indicated the mist wold be a deep freezing fog. The result was a frozen landscape. Each branch was caked with a layer of frost, causing the branches to hang sharply to the ground.
