Winter Watchman
The Watchman is a feature commonly captured in Zion National Park, a tall sandstone mountain that watches over the community of Springdale. I visited Zion in late winter to capture this specific scene, without all the foliage. I thought sunset at this location and season would bring out an interesting contrast between the glowing red cliffs and gray dormant trees. I setup the shot on the bridge that spans the Virgin River, alongside several other photographers. Lucky for me, a duck began wading in the river, captured in this scene.
