Monument Light
++ Featured in the Bighorn Gallery at Deadhorse Point State Park Visitor Center, March 1 through April 29, 2014 ++
Many of the natural wonders in the world are slot canyons, particularly those with the smooth surfaces of sandstone walls. Of particular note is Antelope Canyon in the Navajo Nation. I strolled through the canyon, and when I saw this feature I immediately thought it resembled Monument Valley. The deep, cooler tones in the shadows were incredible! It looked like a wavy rainbow! With the correct mixture of white balance, tint, and exposure, the colors came alive! My eyes wandered back and forth, waiting for the perfect way to capture the moment, and as the sunlight moved slightly over several minutes, I saw what I deemed monument light.
