Sacrifice
Sunset light glistening through the grassland along the Wichita Mountains of southern Oklahoma. To capture the image, I had to sacrifice myself a bit. I observed a fire ant hill at the spot where I needed to position the tripod, and I needed the perspective to be as close to the ground as possible. I laid down right on the ant hill, setup the shot, and began capturing the light. I felt several bites, and continued shooting. After 4 or 5 minutes, I felt I had the shot, so stood up, shook several ants off. There were a couple stragglers inside the clothing, so took a couple minutes to remove them, too. When all was said and done, probably 20 to 30 bites. Ouch! And worth it!
